Black Ops 4 Black Ops Pass available now as standalone

Activision Support has just released a new FAQ about the Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4, Black Ops Pass

The pass comes with the Digital Deluxe, Digital Deluxe Enhanced, and the Pro Edition of Black Ops 4 and contains,

  • Classified – a new Zombies map, available at launch
  • 12 Multiplayer Maps to be released during the post-launch content season
  • 4 Zombies Maps to be released during the post-launch content season
  • 4 Exclusive Blackout characters

The FAQ states that you will not be able to buy the Black Ops Pass as a standalone product and you will have to buy one of the special editions,

Q: Can I buy Black Ops Pass as a standalone product?

A: Currently, no. The only way to get Black Ops Pass is through the Digital Deluxe, Digital Deluxe Enhanced, and Pro Editions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

It also states that you will not be able to buy any of the content individually throughout the cycle of the game and will have to buy a version of the game that contains the Black Ops Pass. So like the previous version of Call Of Duty you were able to buy each DLC individually before if you wanted to do so you can no longer at this moment do that with Black Ops 4.

A: No. The contents included in Black Ops Pass may only be purchased as a bundle.

If you have pre-ordered the basic disc version from a retailer then you will have to return to your retailer and request that they upgrade your purchase to the Pro Version or you will not be able to get any of the Black Ops Pass content.

Q: I’ve already pre-ordered the physical base version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. How can I upgrade to get the Black Ops Pass content?

A: If you pre-ordered the physical base version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, return to your retailer to upgrade your pre-order to an edition that includes Black Ops Pass.

If you preordered the basic edition digitally then you will be able to go on to your respective store be it PlayStation, Xbox or Battle Net and buy an upgrade to one of the higher digital editions.

This approach seems to very backward being in not allowing you to purchase the Black Ops Pass individually if you choose to at a later date or even giving you the option to purchase any of the new content it will bring individually. It remains to be seen if they stand by this decision or if at a later date they will let you buy the Black Ops Pass separately.
